Anasa Yoga co-founder Katrina Lashea’s teaching style is influenced by her teachers Sandy Blaine, Mary Lou Weprin, Donald Moyer, Maty Ezraty, Michael Lucey, and Marla Apt. She blends her study of dance pedagogy with her joy of dancing. She has taught yoga for GirlTrek, #Stressprotest, Mills College, Civicorps Learning Academy, Alameda Health Systems, Kaiser Permanente, Educational Theatre, and Adeline Yoga. Katrina serves as a faculty member and volunteer organizer for GirlTrek, a national health organization to inspire African Women and Girls to live their healthiest most fulfilled lives-simply by walking.
For over 15 years she served as a program coordinator and theatrical director for Kaiser Permanente Educational Theater Programs. Along with teaching yoga, Katrina was a health and wellness teacher for Civicorps Learning Academy, a high school diploma program to support 18-26 year olds in obtaining their high school diploma, and a health counselor for UCSF’s Center for Community Health. She is a graduate of The Yoga Room’s, 3-year Advanced Studies Program at the 500-hour level emphasizing healthy alignment in yoga to develop body awareness, strength and flexibility, and Maty Ezraty’s 200-hour Yogaworks Founder Teacher Training. She holds a Masters of Management from the Lorry I. Lokey School of Business and Public Policy at Mills College with an emphasis in Social Impact and Innovation, and received her bachelor's degree at U.C Berkeley in Dramatic Art-Dance.
Katrina initially began yoga to support her recovery from a back injury, in the pursuing years she has found it has also supported her recovery from the debilitating effects of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PSTD).
She is especially interested in making yoga accessible to novices and beginners. It’s rewarding and exciting to teach yoga to beginners and making it accessible to anyone interested in beginning a yoga practice, In addition to teaching beginning yogis, she enjoys teaching yoga emphasizing:
